A five-day celebration hopes to raise awareness of choir performances and provide an opportunity for singers from around the world to come together and share their experiences.
The 2005 World Children's Choir Festival, which will be held in Hong Kong from July 10 to 14, will feature four evening concerts, eight free afternoon performances and 18 workshops.
Fourteen local singing groups will be joined by 16 choirs from countries including Australia, China, Japan, the United States, Finland and South Africa for the music extravaganza.
All the singers are aged between seven and 19.
The first World Children's Choir Festival was held in Vancouver, Canada, in 2001. Hong Kong is the second city to host the event.
Organising committee chairman, Leon Tong Siu-wai, said that children's choirs are becoming more popular around the world.
