Whatever the function, be it a product launch, movie premiere, fashion show, luxury store opening, Hong Kong's leading socialite and part-owner of PR company Bonvivant & Bellavita, Shirley Hiranand, is sure to show up. But CitySeen wonders if she'll be out and about after a small accident on Monday sent her to the emergency room. Hiranand was seen at St Teresa's Hospital with a bloody bandage around her thumb. She tells CitySeen she cut it on a broken plate. She expected to get stitches, but when the doctor on call told her she needed surgery, she refused and went home. 'He said I have a torn tendon that needs surgery,' says Hiranand, 'I need a second opinion. Now that I can't use my thumb, I realise you use it for a lot of things. I really struggled with doing trivial things like brushing my teeth.' Last night, Hiranand's good friend and fellow socialite Yolanda Choy threw a party at the Conrad poolside for Pierre Alain Blum, president of Vilebrequin. And yes, Hiranand was there to support her friend.
