A BARMAID who had been fined for shoplifting was jailed yesterday for her second offence within a month when she appeared before the magistrate who had fined her.

    Michelle Jean East, 30, was jailed for one month by Magistrate Michael Hill after she admitted stealing two videotapes from KPS Video Express in Causeway Bay on September 19.

    Defence lawyer Duncan Fung said East was depressed because she had separated from her boyfriend. In tears, East asked for a chance. But Mr Hill said he had already given her one.
