Contracted investment hits US$37b

The cumulative contracted investment by 18,700 Taiwan-invested companies in Guangdong totalled US$37.33 billion at the end of March, while actual investment was US$26 billion according to the provincial Department of Foreign Trade and Economic Co-operation.

The figures were released at a Guangdong-Taiwan economic co-operation forum in Jiangmen where issues of expanded access for Taiwan's agricultural products and relocation of research and development facilities from the island were discussed, state media reported.

The participants, most of whom were new investors, also sought the provincial government's support for greater access to capital, the reports said.
