Updated at 6.39pm: China?s State Environmental Protection Administration (SEPA) and Hong Kong?s Environment Protection Department (EPD) on Thursday signed a co-operative arrangement to do more to reduce air pollution.
SEPA?s Pollution Control Department deputy-director general Li Xinmin and the Permanent Secretary for the Environment, Transport and Works Keith Kwok Ka-keung signed the agreement in Hong Kong.
The latest agreement comes in the wake of growing concern about environmental issues in China and Hong Kong ? which have recorded some of the world?s worst levels of air pollution.
Mr Kwok said: 'Air pollution has no boundary. The SEPA and the EPD have all along been sharing experiences and professional knowledge in air pollution control in the past years. The signing of the co-operation arrangement will strengthen co-operation between the two sides.'
Under the co-operation arrangement, staff from the two sides will engage in regular exchanges of knowledge, views and experience in air pollution control.
Joint studies will be commissioned on policies and technologies for tackling air pollution.
