Updated at 6.06pm: Police officers have issued 210 tickets and 156 summonses to motorists and pedestrians who violated traffic regulations during a recent traffic campaign in Kowloon East. A spokesman said on Thursday police conducted the Kowloon East Regional Traffic Day between 7am and 11pm on Wednesday. Some 233 officers were deployed to enforce regulations at the traffic accident black sites in Kowloon East region. Another 178 fixed penalty tickets were issued for illegal parking. Some 85 pedestrians and 24 drivers were verbally warned for committing jaywalking and other minor traffic offences, the spokesman said. He said officers had also distributed pamphlets and leaflets on road safety to road users during the operation. Police statistics showed 818 traffic accidents had occurred in Kowloon East since January.
