Two PRIMARY school teams from Taiwan and Singapore were crowned champions in the Longman Radio Drama Competition held at Hong Kong Polytechnic University last Saturday. The competition, launched last year, is organised by Longman Hong Kong Education and the British Council. More than 200 primary schools from Hong Kong, Taiwan, Singapore, Macau and Malaysia took part in this year's event. Eight schools entered the final round, including Hong Kong's La Salle Primary School and St Joseph's Anglo-Chinese Primary School. Participants read out passages on the stage, accompanied by background music. Hsin Min Elementary School from Taiwan and Chongfu Primary School, Singapore, won the Level One and Level Two titles, respectively. 'We stayed away from frozen desserts and deep-fried food to protect our voices. We are very happy that our hard work has paid off,' said the students from Hsin Min Elementary School. The judges said they were impressed by the high level of co-operation displayed by the participants.
