Hollywood star Nicolas Cage may have stolen a car in a minute in Gone in 60 Seconds, but three bandits in Hong Kong have made him look like a slow coach. They whisked three high-performance cars away from a Yuen Long depot in about 30 seconds. The Mitsubishi Lancer Evolution IXs, which sell for at least $423,000, were among fewer than 20 of their kind in the city. The model hit the streets just this week. The three thieves, in a car driven by a fourth man, sped into the depot at about 8.30am on Tuesday, went straight to the cars they wanted, leaped into them and drove away. Police suspect an inside job. Officers last night were still hunting the thieves, thought to be aged 20 to 30, and were keeping watch for any attempt to smuggle the cars out of Hong Kong. Investigators said the men were probably well informed about the whereabouts of the cars and that they were parked unlocked with keys in the ignition. The main entrance of the depot in Yau Pok Road had been open at the time of the theft.
