Hong Kong Ballet will be staging Hans Christian Andersen's fairytale favourite The Emperor and the Nightingale next month. The performance marks the 200th anniversary of the birth of the great Danish writer. Directed by Finnish choreographer Domy Reiter-Soffer, and with music by Richard Tsang of Hong Kong, the production has already toured the United States and Europe. There will be five Hong Kong performances from July 15 to 17. The ballet is part of the 2005 International Arts Carnival organised by the Leisure and Cultural Services Department.
