A textiles business with a global presence in more than 30 countries is looking for an apparel sales manager - China/Hong Kong. Invista (Hong Kong) prides itself on its market insights and technological innovations, as well as its portfolio of the most recognised global brands and trademarks in the fibres, apparel and interiors industries - such as Lycra, Tactel and Terathene - among many others. The organisation operates five major businesses, including apparel, performance and textile fibres, interiors, intermediates, and polymer and resins. The responsibilities of the role include taking care of overall business activities on the mainland and in Hong Kong. The appointed person will also be required to lead a sales team in both locations, with a brief to aggressively develop the generic spandex business through price management and product mix/market share optimisation, and by selling expenses management. Managing credit risks and working capital is a part of the job. The appointee should be a business leader with the ability to stay abreast of rapidly changing market dynamics. Candidates should have a competitive knowledge of the industry's products, prices, technology and business opportunities. They should also be savvy about customer requirements and be able to build on knowledge gained to achieve business goals. Other duties include managing distributors and key customers, and leading drives to identify new business opportunities. Participation in ad hoc projects is required. The successful applicant should also expect to lead the way in implementing Invista's compliance plan for its businesses on the mainland and in Hong Kong. Potential applicants should have eight to 10 years' experience in the textiles and apparel industry. At least five of these years should have been spent in a managerial or team-leader capacity. Candidates are required to demonstrate their ability to lead a small team towards the definition of goals and the delivery of results. Extensive experience in selling, marketing, negotiation and problem-solving is a must. Excellent presentation and communication skills when dealing with clients and external parties will earn applicants extra points. Entrepreneurial know-how, an eye for new opportunities and the ability to start new business initiatives would be strong advantages. Finally, the candidate should have a good command of Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint, and be fluent in spoken and written English, Cantonese and Putonghua.
