A man dressed as Spiderman brought lunchtime traffic in Queen's Road, Central, to a standstill for more than two hours. Crowds flocked to see him perched atop a giant video screen.

Matt Pearce climbed on to the screen on the Luk Hoi Tung building at the junction with Theatre Lane at 12.45pm yesterday.

Police officers, firemen and an ambulance crew were called and a huge cushion inflated in case he fell or jumped. Traffic was diverted to Des Voeux Road. As motorists honked their horns in the jam, Mr Pearce unfurled a banner protesting about the 1989 Tiananmen crackdown.

He was arrested (inset) after firemen brought him down at 2.50pm, and was being detained last night. The ascent was the latest in a string of stunts by Mr Pearce.
