More than 250 budding actors and actresses attended the Hong Kong Singers audition for Annie on May 29 at Glenealy School. The participants were eager for a place in the group's production of the musical in October. The young hopefuls, aged four to 14, were taught to sing one of the show's most popular numbers, You're Never Fully Dressed Without a Smile. They then showed off their singing and dancing talents to the director Ian Robinson. About 30 to 40 boys and girls will be shortlisted. Everyone who attended the audition will be notified about the results. The musical revolves around a little orphan, Annie, and her friends at Miss Hannigan's infamous orphanage in New York City in the 1930s. It will be staged from October 19 to 23 at the Hong Kong City Hall.
