AFTER studying fashion in Paris, Kevin Yeung gained valuable experience in Hong Kong while working for various garment manufacturers between 1976 and 1982, by designing for both local and overseas markets. In 1982, he joined Zillop Co as chief designer and manager, and his creations, under the label Thaile, were exported to Canada. In 1991, Mr Yueng formed his own firm, Tonnic, offering high-quality fashion. His forte is women's woven casual co-ordinates for day and evening wear. Tonnic provides designs and sampling services, as well as producing clothes in both Hong Kong and China. Mr Yeung also designs his own line under the label Gobelins. He takes a practical approach to design, preferring simple cutting methods. His collections, which appeal both for casual and executive wear, are directed at women aged between 20 and 40. Mr Yeung favours basic colours and natural fabrics, but, he said: ''I am often adventurous with trendy shades and materials in my designs. I want the look to be subtle, nevertheless chic.'' Tonnic is based at Kaiser Estate in Hunghom.
