Ultimate frisbee: Know the basics

Ultimate Frisbee is played between two teams with seven players each on a 40 x 70-yard grass field.

Games are usually played to 15 points. To score a point, you need to catch the frisbee in the other team's goal area, which is at one or other end of the field, similar to rugby.

You are not allowed to run when you are holding the frisbee, and you have 10 seconds to throw it to a teammate.

When a pass is not completed (i.e. out of bounds, interception, knocked onto the ground), the frisbee is turned over to the other team.

Ultimate Frisbee is a non-contact sport. Tackling, screens and picks are not allowed. There are no referees. Players call their own fouls and settle disputes amongst themselves.

Remember the spirit of the game: play competitively, but always have respect for others; don't break the rules; and, most importantly, have fun!
