The court heard that Home Affairs Department officers located a karaoke bar signboard displayed at the ground floor of a building on Jaffe Road in January.

Officers then inspected a unit in the building and found audio-visual equipment and equipment for karaoke inside. One customer, among two parties, was found singing karaoke on the premises.

The woman later admitted under caution that the premises had been operating as karaoke establishment for over three years without a permit or licence.

She was charged under the Karaoke Establishments Ordinance for operating an unlicensed establishment.
