The new Optio S5z is the fifth iteration in the most popular compact and lightweight digital camera series from Pentax. Designed in the 'no experience required' tradition that makes digital photography less daunting for newcomers, the Optio S5z comes with a 3X optical zoom, 5 megapixel resolution, 9.3 megabytes of built-in memory, and a 2.5 inch liquid crystal display monitor for optimised image composition and playback. It measures 83x55x21.5mm and weighs 105 grams without its battery and memory card. The camera's small size is made possible through the innovative Pentax Sliding Lens system that moves the lens up and away as it retracts into the camera. Priced at $3,290, the Optio S5z also features an aluminium alloy exterior, a rounded corner design and rubber grip.
