Liquid-crystal display maker Varitronix International may list Ness Display, a South Korean maker of organic light-emitting diode (OLED) displays, according to Varitronix chairman Chang Chu-cheng (left). Mr Chang said the listing, if it happens, would be in 2007, after Ness had broken even next year, as scheduled. Possible listing venues include the Nasdaq, Hong Kong and Singapore. Varitronix bought a 28.57 per cent stake in Ness for US$20 million. Ness Display chief executive James Choe (right) said his firm had invested US$42.5 million in a production line in Singapore - which will begin operating later this year - to make OLED screens for mobile handsets and MP3 players. Ness plans to set up another OLED production line in Hong Kong or Guangdong by 2007, which will more than double production capacity.
