Pok Oi Hospital Chan Kai Memorial College won the Ranatra Fusca Creativity Award at the Odyssey of the Mind 2005 World Finals at the University of Colorado last month. The event, held from May 21 to 24, attracted 763 teams from more than 19 countries around the world. Hong Kong was represented by seven teams - Chan Kai, King Ling College, Ho Lap College, Marymount Secondary School, STFA Lee Shau Kee College, Creative Primary School and Assembly of God Hebron Secondary School. Chan Kai competed in the 'Classic . . . Get the Message?' category in which they presented an original performance that told the same story three times, using primitive, evolved and futuristic methods of communication. They ranked fourth but won the Ranatra Fusca award. The judges commented: '[The team took] an extreme risk by incorporating various technical and multimedia elements . . . They created music that perfectly matched their performance. The illuminated props and costumes constantly changed and evolved the funny presentation in a unique light.' Teams taking part in the Odyssey of the Mind competition had to solve one of four problems designed by the organisers.
