Updated at 4.41pm: Police on Thursday appealed for information on a traffic accident in Tai Po last month in which an 84-year-old woman was killed. A spokesman said the woman - who was in a wheelchair - was knocked down by a taxi on Tai Po Tai Wo Road about 8.20am on May 18. The woman and her 84-year-old husband had been crossing the road near the junction with Ting Kok Road. Her husband was also struck by the taxi. The spokesman said the taxi was driven by a 52-year-old man. It was travelling along the westbound carriageway of Tai Po Tai Wo Road. The woman received serious leg injuries and was rushed to Alice Ho Miu Ling Nethersole Hospital. She was certified dead at 10.48am on June 4. Police on Thursday were also investigating a traffic accident in which a 44 year-old man was killed on Wednesday afternoon. The accident occurred about 1pm at Yip Cheong Street in Sheung Shui. A container truck, driven by a 51-year-old man, was reversing at Yip Cheong Street near Kui Tat Street when it knocked down the man. He had been trapped under the truck before the firemen pulled him free. The man was taken to North District Hospital, but declared dead at 8.23pm.
