Circles and dots may not be a leading trend in Hong Kong but they soon will be, fashion designer Chen Dao says.
Veteran singer Paula Tsui Siu-fung will bring the trend full circle with her trademark outfits when she stages her first concert series in a decade next month, Chen said yesterday.
'I'm sure when Paula Tsui's concerts kick off, everyone on the streets will be wearing clothes with circles,' Chen said.
The trend was previewed at the Polytechnic University Institute of Textiles and Clothing's graduation show yesterday with tight outfits sporting bright colours, such as yellow and green.
Out are the baggy clothes in dark hues that were popular last year.
'Hong Kong people can't accept clothes that are too exaggerated,' said Chen, one of the judges of the show and a PolyU graduate. He predicted most would opt for outfits of a single colour.
At the show, 24 graduates in fashion and textile studies each presented a collection of six outfits. Show champion Vic Pang Kai-chung designed a collection of white outfits with a 3D effect he termed 'external distortion'.
