The public can take a sneak preview of dinosaur fossils as experts set them up for display in Cityplaza, Taikoo Shing.
Eight dinosaur fossils and 10 fossil plant and animal specimens, on loan from the Beijing Museum of Natural History and the Sichuan Zigong Dinosaur Museum, will be on show on the first and second floors of the mall from June 24 to July 31.
Three of the dinosaurs - Omeisaurus tianfuensis, Huayangosaurus taibaii and Shunosaurus lii - from the Sichuan museum, arrived last week and 30 experts began assembling them yesterday.
The other five skeletons arrived from Beijing yesterday.
The Omeisaurus tianfuensis is 10 metres tall and the second largest dinosaur fossil in Asia. The Huayangosaurus taibaii is the most ancient and intact Stegosaurus fossil ever found. The Shunosaurus lii demands the highest insurance premium as it is the most intact dinosaur fossil in the world.
The public can see the 160 million-year-old fossils from the mid-Jurassic age as Cityplaza will not cover up the working area.
A metre-high fortified glass wall will be erected to stop the public from getting too close to the national treasures - except the hip bone of the Omeisaurus tianfuensis, which visitors can touch.
