The Watson's Water Athletic King Champion of 2005 is the first Hong Kong runner to have broken the 21-second barrier in the 200 metres, making the 18-year-old junior holding a senior record.

How does it feel to have broken the 21-second barrier for Hong Kong?

Beating the barrier was expected, because while practising they told me I could reach that time.

How do you feel to have beaten a senior record as a junior?

I'm excited and happy about breaking a senior record. All my teammates and friends were glad.

How do you feel about the competition between Chiang Wai-hung and you?

There is still some room for improvement. Chiang's best time in 100 metres is 10.37 seconds, mine is only 10.44. Also, he is more experienced, I'm still new in this field and only a junior.

How do you prepare for your races?

For two weeks before a race I will have intensive training. The aspect I want to improve the most is the one I focus on. Then, one week before the race, I rest.

What race do you prefer do compete in?

I prefer the 200 metres and that's also my best race. I'm good at accelerating. The 100 metres is too short for that.

How and when did you start running?

About 11/2 years ago. In October 2003, Ko Chi-hang [coach], spotted me at a training course. December 2003 was the first time I ran in competition. In that race I won the 100 metres and came second in the 200.

Have you ever been paid for a race?

I've received performance awards, which you get for breaking records and winning the Watson's Water King Championship. I have won a few thousand dollars as a bonus.

What are some of your future plans in running?

I will focus on the All China Games, the East Asian Games in Macau, the Asian Athletic Championship in Korea and also on the Asian Games next year in Doha.

What are your other interests?

I like badminton, basketball, sleeping and shopping.
