Sparkling arrest

Police lead away five people arrested on suspicion of trying to steal more than $1 million worth of jewellery at a fair at the Convention and Exhibition Centre yesterday.

The three men and two women, who come from South America, are thought to have stolen $1.2 million worth of diamond necklaces from an exhibitor at 1pm.

The suspects, who were detained overnight, were caught by undercover police officers.
