Yip's Wealthy remains at the top of his game

The barrier trials scheduled for Sha Tin yesterday were cancelled due to a lack of entries but there have been a few gallopers with engagements this weekend who have been working extremely well in the mornings.

Dennis Yip Chor-hong's five-time winner Wealthy is continuing to show his usual zest and looks at the top of his game.

The in-form son of Danehill is gunning for his sixth win in a row on Sunday when he competes in the Sha Tin Mile Trophy and the way he worked on Monday suggested he would take a good deal of beating. The lightly framed galloper clocked a steady 1:26.2 seconds over 1,200 metres, but was doing the work well within himself inside the final 400m where he was timed in 25.4 seconds.

There could be some end of season cheer for Danny Shum Chap-shing, who has an excellent chance to score with Sanziro. He worked brilliantly on the turf on Monday over 800m in 50.8 seconds.

He easily had the better of work partner Flaming Lamborgini, who was a little tardy out of the gates. It was yet another sensational workout from Sanziro, who leaves the impression he is a horse to follow next season when he is fully acclimatised.

Meanwhile, Manfred Man Ka-leung's Ample Gains impressed when galloping on Monday over 800m with Gerald Mosse on board. He clocked his final 400m in 23.1 seconds.

He was a shade disappointing on his last couple of starts, but this workout proved he is back to his best and deserves plenty of respect on Sunday.
