CitySeen's readers often ask us about the latest trends among celebrities, hoping to keep up with the hottest fad. We can tell you with a straight face that going green is all the rage among celebs now. That's right, vegetarians are sprouting up all over the red carpet, and more and more are embracing broccoli and giving beef the boot. People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals, or Peta, earlier this month launched its fifth 'Sexiest Vegetarian Alive' poll on GoVeg.com. Asian celebrity contenders include Hong Kong's very own US-born model and actress, Maggie Q (right). She is running neck and neck with Taiwanese actress Barbie Xu Xi-yuan and singer Elva Hsiao Ya-xuan. Maggie Q says 'no' to fur and is a huge believer in animal rights. She recently agreed to become Peta's Hong Kong spokeswoman, and the organisation is set to open an office in the city in two months. A Peta representative said Maggie plans to do as much as she can for animal rights. Last year's winners were actress Alicia Silverstone and hip-hop king Andre 300, from the group Outkast. Hollywood celebs in this year's poll include singer Avril Lavigne, actress Reese Witherspoon and Coldplay frontman Chris Martin. But we should be supporting our own shouldn't we? There is a complete list of vegetarian celebrities at GoVeg.com, so cast your vote now to support your favourite actor/actress. The results of Peta's 'Sexiest Vegetarian Alive' poll will be revealed in July.
