Updated at 1.34pm: A 23-year-old Nepalese man would appear in the Kowloon City Magistracy later on Thursday to face a charge of attempted murder, a police spokesman said. The Nepalese man was arrested on Monday night following an attack on a young Nepalese woman. The woman had to be hospitalised with head injuries. Police were alerted to the attack when a 45-year-old watchman reported that he had heard shouts for help around 10.30pm on Monday. The watchmen said the cries for help were coming from inside a park between Cheung Sha Wan Path and Sham Shui Po Sports Ground, a police spokesman said. Officers subsequently found a 24-year-old Nepalese woman, who was being chased by the Nepalese man. She had already received head injuries. Police arrested the Nepalese man and sent the woman to Caritas Medical Centre. Investigations have revealed the arrested man had had a dispute with the victim at the park earlier on Monday. He had allegedly tried to strangle the victim with rope and hit her head against the ground repeatedly, the spokesman said. Police have charged the Nepalese man with wounding with intent to murder. Anyone with any information on the incident should call police on tel: 2746-3454.
