Kou and her gang
The perfect hostess as always, Louise Kou Fook-tseng threw a splendid party in her new boutique in Fung House, in Central last week.
The dress code was Oriental Lounge and more than 500 guests showed up to help celebrate the launch of her lifestyle store.
The non-descript foyer and stuffy elevator gave no hint of the lavishly decorated penthouse on the 22nd floor. Guests roamed the 5,000sqft space, admiring the furniture, lighting elements, decorative ornaments and art works tucked away in the mansion's various rooms.
While some relaxed on a 19th-century Parisienne sofa with a flute of Veuve Clicquot, others browsed through the drawers for fashion accessories and saucy lingerie. The walk-in closet was also a popular room as ladies admired Kou's collection of silk chemises and cheongsams.
The hostess' private quarters were open for viewing, too. Guests chatted on her bed, peeked in her wardrobe and stepped into her shower stall. Kou opted not to serve canapes, instead offering stomach fillers such as schwarma, falafel, samosas, hummus dip and pitta bread.
Among the guests were Shirley Li Tam Mei-tak, Jenny Wong, Dino Lalvani, Indian model Shivani Kapur, Brenda and Kai-bong Chau, Yumiko Kuok, Frederique Deleage, Michael Lai Siu-tin and Harry and Shirley Hiranand.
