new scholarships record

More than 125 scholarships worth $2.8 billion were handed out by Hong Kong Institute of Education this week - a record-breaking number. The 12 new scholarships introduced this year include the HKIEd Alumni Memorial Scholarship in memory of four alumni who died in a road accident in 2003.

prize for hkbu academic

Dr Li Lianjiang, associate professor of government and international studies at Hong Kong Baptist University, has become the first Hong Kong scholar to win the Sage Paper Award for the best paper in comparative politics. He scooped the prize for his paper Popular Contention and its Impact in Rural China, delivered at the 2004 Annual Meetings of the American Political Science Association.

VTC launches diplomas
