At 17, she represented Hong Kong at the Sudirman Cup World Team Championships in Beijing. Yip has also qualified for the World Championships (individual events) in the United States in August. She quit schooling last year when she was a fourth-form student at the Jockey Club Ti-I College in Fo Tan.
How did you start playing badminton?
It was the first sport I learnt in primary school and I loved it instantly.
What important tournaments have you won?
I won two bronze medals in the girls' singles and mixed doubles at the 18th International Junior Badminton Championships in the Netherlands in February.
What is your next target?
I hope to do better in the Asian Junior Championships next month in Indonesia. I fell in the last 16 at the previous event. Hopefully, I will not meet any player from China in the opening stages because they are all very strong.
