Residents of Guangdong's Yuecheng city clean up after floods that have ravaged many homes. Floods in six southern and western provinces since the middle of the month had left 164 people dead, the Ministry of Civil Affairs said yesterday. Sixty-eight people are still missing after the floods hit Zhejiang, Fujian, Jiangxi, Hunan, Guangdong and Guangxi, causing economic losses of 17.4 billion yuan. About 1.87 million people have to be relocated. The toll from flooding across the mainland so far this year has reached 607. Meteorologists have forecast that torrential rain will move north to Jiangsu, Hubei, Anhui and Jiangxi provinces. Jilin will also be hit.
