Sophia Yeung, Interior architect I have a gang of girlfriends who love to get together for a big one every now and then. We meet at one of our apartments, bringing some of our own cooking and our favourite poison; for me it's chardonnay - and lots of it. By 10.30pm, we're stopping traffic and hijacking taxis. We fill up three cabs and arrive in Lan Kwai Fong for our first stop, Le Jardin. It's an old favourite and the bar's outdoor terrace is perfect at this time of year. After about 90 minutes it's time to head to the main event: a new club night at Volar called Uptown Rockers. Fortunately, we had arranged to be put on the guest list in advance. The entrance is heaving with not-your-typical Volar types chanting 'I'm on the list' and 'I know the DJs'. We get straight in and look for somewhere to sit, but the place is rocking to some really edgy music that you rarely hear in Lan Kwai Fong. We get some drinks and meet up with more friends, and find ourselves dancing with the DJs, who are partying with the crowd as much as playing records. The best thing about the night is the interesting mix of people - even Futura 2000, the New York graffiti artist, is there - and the music. By 5am, only the hardcore partygoers are left and I have spent everything I had on me, along with racking up a bill the size of a Third World debt on my credit card. Time for bed I think.
