Even if you are not a big fan of car racing, you will find Initial D an entertaining film.
Directed by Andrew Lau Wai-keung and Alan Mak Siu-fai, the award-winning filmmakers of the Infernal Affairs trilogy, the film is adapted from a popular Japanese comic book of the same name.
It features a star-studded cast which includes Jay Chou Jie-lun, Edison Chen Koon-hei, Anthony Wong Chau-sang and Chapman To Man-chak.
Chou stars as Takumi, who is a talented car racer. His father, brilliantly played by Wong, is a former racer who quit racing for love.
Challenged by street and professional racers, Chou gradually realises his dream of becoming a car racer after a series of thrilling races on winding roads.
Lau and Mak blend stunt driving with computer effects in the powerful car racing scenes.
The scenes in which Takumi practises drifting - braking the rear wheels to create a controlled, four-wheel skid to turn sharp corners quickly - will keep you on the edge of your seat.
