Keith Robertson, Morgan Gibson, Elaine Chan Yu-ning and Ricco Chan Ye-ko enjoyed a proud and special moment when they received their Sportsperson of the Year (secondary schools) trophies at the Hong Kong and Kowloon Bauhinia Bowl Awards on Tuesday.
Permanent Secretary for Education Fanny Law Fan Chiu-fun attended the prize presentation which was held at La Salle College.
The four students were the stars of the show, with several newspaper reporters and photographers, along with a television crew, recording their moment of glory.
La Salle clinched the champion boys' school title and their runner/swimmer, Ricco Chan Ye-ko, was named Sportsboy of the Year.
Heep Yunn were girls' champions for the 21st time, and their discus/swimming ace, Elaine Chan Yu-ning, was named Sportsgirl of the Year.
In the co-ed category, Island School were champions, with the school's Morgan Gibson named Co-ed Sportsgirl of the Year. West Island School's Keith Robertson was selected Sportsboy of the Year for the second time in a row.
'To accept the award in front of my friends, family and teachers is a really special moment and I'm very proud,' said Ricco, 18, who also received the outstanding athlete trophy (cross-country).
