Mainland publishers and media have cashed in on Donald Tsang Yam-kuen's rise to chief executive, with a biography on him hitting the shelves shortly after he took over the post.
The book, From a Salesman to the Chief Executive, has been released in various mainland cities over the past week. Written by Dou Yingtai and published by Unity Press in Beijing, the book begins with Mr Tsang's childhood and ends with his plan to run for the chief executive position.
It contains some discussions between Mr Tsang and his friends and family, including his wife, Salina Tsang Pow Siu-mei.
It is unclear whether the author, who portrays Mr Tsang as a capable civil servant, interviewed him. Meanwhile, The Oriental Outlook, a magazine published by Xinhua, reported on Mr Tsang in a cover story in its latest edition entitled 'The strong leader, Donald Tsang, and Hong Kong's future'.
