I TAKE no sides in the continuing acrimonious debate in these columns about domestic helpers, but perhaps I risk being branded one of the ''small, prejudiced and ignorant expat group'' if I suggest that Lauren Lee's letter (South China Morning Post, November 2) gives the impression that she has an axe to grind against these expats and against the overseas domestic helpers whose interests the Hong Kong Employers of Overseas Domestic Helpers Association purports to have so much at heart.
Miss Lee should take an objective look at her own attitudes before casting stones and remember that if she and her association (who are they anyway?) dislike employing the overseas helpers so much they do not have to hire them. According to her, they could employ unskilled Hong Kong workers at lower wages who do not enjoy as much protection in law.
