Top-level reshuffle sees former Shenzhen mayor rise in Shanxi
Former Shenzhen mayor Yu Youjun has been promoted to acting governor of Shanxi province as part of a top-level reshuffle of central and provincial governments.
Mr Yu, 52, has already arrived in the Shanxi capital of Taiyuan to take over from 55-year-old Zhang Baoshun , who is moving on to become party secretary of the province, officials from the Shanxi government have confirmed.
Mr Zhang was involved with party propaganda and youth education before taking over as vice-governor of Shanxi in 2001.
In another Shanxi-related move, former provincial party chief Tian Chengping has replaced Zheng Silin as minister of labour and social security, according to a decision made by the 16th session of the Standing Committee of the 10th National People's Congress (NPC), Xinhua reported.
Mr Tian took part in a short ceremony on Thursday to formally take office, ministry officials said. Mr Tian was party chief in Shanxi for six years after a decade of senior postings in the northwestern province of Qinghai .
Mr Zheng, 65, is expected to serve on the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference, a common exit move for officials who have reached retirement age.
