Perfume: 'I've been wearing patchouli since I was 14. Now I get it from the Martin Margiela shop in Japan.' Shoes: Barbara Bui. 'I like her shoes. Buying high heels can be difficult in Japan because they tend to be expensive.' Most extravagant purchase: 'There isn't one thing in particular, but overall I've spent most of my money on clothes and books.' On bedside table: 'I sleep on a mattress on the floor, so I don't have a bedside table. There's a Japanese-style lamp beside it.' Most recent purchase: 'I recently bought a Gardem Paris top in silk. It's really sexy. I also bought a pair of Chrome Hearts earrings and an Hermes ring.' One thing you always carry: 'I bought a few rings during a trip to Afghanistan and I can't leave the house unless I have at least one on each hand. I change them from day to day.' Two things to take to a desert island: 'One of my rings and make-up.' Favourite piece of furniture: 'I have a chair for working in my office that I picked up in a market. It's white, in a 1960s style.' Book: La Comtesse de Palmyre by Marie-Cecile de Taillac. 'It's about a woman who travelled a lot. I haven't finished it yet, but I think she ends up killing some people. Despite that, I like it because she's curious ... I find it inspiring.' CDs: 'I love girlie punk rock, from Peaches to The Kills. I also really like a Japanese electronic artist called Ryoji Ikeda.' Movies: 'I loved Wong Kar-wai's Chungking Express and In The Mood For Love. If there's one movie that stands out above all others, it's Mauvais Sang by Leos Carax. I have seen it many times but I never get bored with it.'
