The South China rebound king helped his team score a double this season when they wrapped up the A1 Division basketball league title earlier this week. South China, who captured the Shield earlier, will be looking forward to their third consecutive double next season, and Tam, who top-scored with 23 points in the series-clinching game four against Fukien, will be the key to their success.

How long have you played top-flight basketball?

I started playing in the A1 Division when I was 15, eight years ago. I first played for a team called Youth and joined South China in 2002. I enjoy playing with South China very much not only because we are always the champions but also because we are a team with good spirit. Win or lose, we always give our best.

Why did you pick up basketball?

I have been always the tallest guy among my peers [he is now 1.95 metres] when I was in secondary school. My PE teacher then asked me to join the game because it suits a tall guy like me most.

Any other important moment in your career?

I was named the re-bound king at the Asian Junior Championships in 2000. Although we failed to win anything, it was still a big personal achievement. I also won the Outstanding School Athlete Award of Hong Kong in 2002.
