I have a strange problem on my Macintosh. I have a PowerBook 17-inch Mac and until recently, it was working fine. I really liked the Bluetooth connection because I could sync my mobile phone with ease. I recently upgraded to Mac OSX 10.4 (Tiger) and suddenly Bluetooth no longer works. What should I do? Somebody told me to put an earlier system - such as Panther - on an external disk, boot from that and see if it is there. That makes some sense because I had Panther before and everything was fine.

This question has come up a few times, so you are not alone. It even became personal when I suddenly realised that I had the same problem.

I asked a number of Apple experts, but got nowhere. Eventually, I stumbled on the solution.

It is an extremely irritating thing. You have to set up Bluetooth again. In the upper-right corner of your machine, just to the left of the Spotlight icon, there is a little Bluetooth icon. Click on that and set up your phone. It is a breeze. I am not quite certain why it does not just carry on working from the previous OS, but it does not.

I have heard a lot about Object-oriented programming and wondered if I should try my hand. I am a bit uncertain, however, because I have heard it is really difficult and not like any other kind of programming. Is that true? Is there a book that will make it easier?
