Broadcasters see double-digit revenue growth from an increase in advertising
The economic recovery has boosted the coffers of dominant terrestrial broadcasters Television Broadcasts and Asia Television after a 12.4 per cent rise in advertising in the first five months, according to Nielsen Media Research.
The $7.6 billion in revenue recorded in the period compares with Hong Kong's overall advertising market increase of 12.2 per cent to $17 billion.
Senior executives from TVB and ATV say they are on track to achieve almost double-digit growth in advertising revenue this year.
'Our advertising revenue for the first half of this year outpaced our internal target,' said Cheong Shin-keong, the general manager for broadcasting at TVB.
Mr Cheong also claimed that progress was being made in revenue-sharing talks with cable television stations in Guangdong.
