Umbrella shields woman from falling concrete

A 44-year-old woman narrowly escaped injury when a piece of concrete measuring 15cm by 7cm landed on her umbrella yesterday. The concrete is believed to have fallen off the outer wall of a unit in Hing Shing House, Tai Hing Estate, Tuen Mun. In a separate case, a 60-year-old woman was injured by falling glass fragments on Ngau Tau Kok Road. Police said a glass awning on the first floor of a building broke and fell. In a third case in North Point, a piece of concrete fell from a block of flats but no one was injured.

Nina Wang forgery case adjourned to October 17

Nina Wang Kung Yu-sum, Asia's richest woman, who is alleged to have forged her husband's will, had her case adjourned to October 17 for mention in Eastern Court. Acting principal magistrate Anthony Yuen yesterday set aside a tentative five days for a preliminary hearing for the case beginning October 24.

Girl hurt by stolen car in hit-and-run

An eight-year-old girl received leg injuries when she was hit by a stolen car in a hit-and-run in Yau Ma Tei. The girl was crossing Temple Street when she was hit. Police said the car sped away after the incident. Police later found the car parked nearby and an investigation revealed that it had been stolen in Yuen Long.
