Summer temperatures might be soaring, but one of the coolest places to be recently was the launch of Swarovski's autumn/winter collection. The crystal expert threw its In the Mood for Ice party at the Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Centre, with the venue transformed into a winter paradise. More than 700 guests, many of them adhering to the crystal-ice dress code, entered through a 'crack in the ice' as they turned up for the party. To enhance the chilly atmosphere, six larger-than-life lighting installations were created to resemble icebergs, and waiting staff were quick to offer icy white drinks in martini glasses. Guests included fortune teller Peter So Man-fung, former model Janet Ma Sze-wai and fashion designer Benny Yeung Chun-yuen. They were among the crowd that admired the two ice sculptures: a polar bear and an iceberg. Many more were impressed by the artist who created a sculpture of the Swarovski swan during the party. Seventeen of Hong Kong's top models, including Kathy Chow Man-kei, Lisa Selesner, Amanda Strang and Balia Chan Pui-ka were on the catwalk to show off Swarovski jewellery. Celebrity guest Michelle Reis Li Ka-yan surprised the crowd with her catwalk cameo. She modelled a tailor-made vest that was put together using nearly 50,000 crystals. And as if the party didn't set hearts pumping fast enough, South Korean percussionists Nanta then appeared on stage. Other sightings included Yumiko Kuok, Abbie Chan Sai-kit, Lam Kin-ming and daughter Vicki Lam Wai-ki, Gilbert Yeung Kei-lung, Denise Lau Sze-wai and husband Calvin Chan Chi-tat, and Vanessa Tose.
