Canto-pop godfather Sam Hui Koon-kit's eldest son, Ryan, who had been ready to launch his music career, has put his plans on hold.

Earlier this week, Hui revealed he was not going to sign with Asia Vigour - the organiser of his father's comeback concerts last year and earlier this year. 'I stopped working with Asia Vigour about two months ago,' said the 29-year-old. He said he hadn't signed a contract with the entertainment company. 'They've supported me making music, but we're going in different musical directions.'

Hui said he was in talks with several companies about releasing his debut album. 'Actually, the recording has been completed. I hope it can be out as soon as possible,' said Hui, who wrote the music for the disc.

The six-track EP features five Cantonese tracks and one English song, including a number written by his father.

Hui said his father had introduced him to people from different record companies, but it was up to him to choose the company.

'My father has told me his opinion,' he said. 'But he'll let me make the final decision. He trusts me and knows releasing an album now is different from the past.'
