Here I am marks the solo debut of Marion Raven - one-half of the defunct Norwegian pop duo M2M.
Most of the tracks were written by the talented 21-year-old, whose life is reflected in the songs. Her music incorporates anger and disappointment, resulting in a sound that is a cross between Canadian rockers Avril Lavigne and Alanis Morissette.
The track 13 Days, which Raven composed with the help of Our Lady Peace's Raine Maida, is about a fling which lasts 13 days. Songs such as End of Me, Let Me Introduce Myself and Gotta Be Kidding are musical portraits of a woman scorned.
The rhythmic Break You reveals a dark side of Raven while Little By Little unveils a tender edge. The album's raw lyrics will likely touch a nerve in listeners' minds while her amazing voice - accompanied by melodic guitars and powerful beats - will appear to the ears.
Fans of M2M and spunky 'grrl rock' will not be disappointed with Raven's first solo flight.
