Out goes Silly Old Tung and in comes Bow-tie Monk.

The company that started a publishing sensation with comic books featuring Tung Chee-hwa has returned with a book for the new era under Chief Executive Donald Tsang Yam-kuen.

There's the 120-page Bow-tie Monk, (pronounced the same way as Tsang in Cantonese), and The Secret Code of Donald Tsang, a collection of quotes from his time as financial secretary with satirical analysis. Both will be released on Wednesday at the Hong Kong Book Fair at the Convention and Exhibition Centre.

Subculture first released Silly Old Tung in 2000, and sold more than 10,000 copies in 10 days, a publishing phenomenon in Hong Kong.

Subculture's boss, Jimmy Pang Chi-ming, yesterday invited Mr Tsang to visit his counter at the book fair from Wednesday to mark the launch of the two books.

'I would be happy if Mr Tsang could spend some time at our counter to read the books,' said Mr Pang, who chose to depict Mr Tsang as a Buddhist monk in Bow-tie Monk because in Buddhism, there are usually no definitive solutions to problems. The front cover shows a shirtless monk wearing a red bow tie, practising kung fu. The back cover promises to tell the story of 'how the Bow-tie Monk becomes a religious leader'.
