Police launch hunt for suspected baby-milk thief

Police are hunting for a man who fled with eight cans of baby milk formula worth more than $900 from a supermarket in Smithfield, Kennedy Town, yesterday. The suspect, aged about 30, 1.82 metres tall and wearing a checked shirt, left the shop without paying.

Three supermarket employees were arrested after a stock check at a store in Belcher's Street, Kennedy Town, found they had concealed noodles, ice cream and bottled water.

A traffic policeman was injured after his motorcycle and a private car collided on Cotton Tree Drive shortly before 5am. The motorist was charged with drink-driving after failing a breathalyser test.
