HONG Kong Football Club A bounced back from a mid-week defeat to thrash nearest rivals Pasbaan-Pakwatan 6-0 in the Hong Kong men's First Division at Happy Valley yesterday.
Club were handed their first defeat of the season when they were surprised by Hong Kong's youth side, the Tigers, 4-1 on Thursday night, but the Happy Valley side stormed back with a vengeance to regain top spot.
Frank Rugreigel opened the scoring for Club and Steve Rodrigues made it 2-0 at the interval. Club captain Andy Bough slammed in two penalty corner conversions and two more goals were added to the tally from former Great Britain captain Robert Clift and Angus Emmerson who rounded off a fine display.
''We put away chances in the first half which was something we couldn't do against Tigers. We took control of the game and now we're back on track,'' said Bough.
Club lead Kowloon Cricket Club A by two points after the Cricketers made ground in the title race by defeating KNS A 3-0.
Pasbaan-Pakwatan, the surprise league leaders of last week, simply had no answer to the solid play of Club on a warm, humid afternoon.
