HONG Kong officials are rushing to arrange last-minute contingency plans in case of a disaster at the Daya Bay nuclear plant, which switches on to full capacity next month.

Secretary for Security Alistair Asprey confirmed the Security Branch would meet Chinese officials this month to discuss what would be done in the event of on-site accidents.
The talks had specifically been scheduled to discuss notification and liaison.
The plant lies 50 kilometres northeast of the urban centre of Hong Kong.
