Woman held for three weeks in Shenzhen
A woman from Hong Kong was recovering in hospital last night after being kidnapped and held for more than three weeks in Shenzhen.
Chau Hung, 36, told police she was bundled into a car by four men late last month while walking alone in a street in Shenzhen, where she has been living with her husband, who is also from Hong Kong.
Police say she told them she was tied up and blindfolded before being taken to a flat where she was detained and kept under guard by her abductors.
Her husband reported her missing to Shenzhen police when she did not come home. He also returned to Hong Kong and sought help from the police here, who passed on the information to the mainland's Public Security Bureau.
The motive for the abduction and reason for her release remained unknown. Police say no one had approached her husband to demand money.
The woman told police she had been given food and water and that she was not assaulted.
