Why you can trust SCMP

Choose a sunscreen with an sun protection factor (SPF) of not less than 15. The darker your natural skin colour, the lower the SPF needs to be.

Make sure the sunscreen provides UVA and UVB +++ protection.

Spread sunscreen evenly. Make sure to use at least half a teaspoon on your face.

Don't neglect areas such as your hands and neck.

If you can get a sample, try it out under makeup. Be sure to find a product that feels comfortable on your skin to make sure you continue using it. Some sunscreens containing UVA protection leave a slightly greasy, white film on skin.
